In Class Today

In my human behavior class we talk about... well... human behavior. And we were talking about mental illnesses and if medication can or cannot help. In my experience of being in psychology and sociology, people tend to be extremely out spoken and extroverted. Not to mention kinda off the rocker a little bit. I also think there is a new person in that class every day, but they are only there for one day. ?? weird. yeah. ANYWAYS.... So we were talking about how medication can help things and if you don't want to take medication you can heal yourself by being positive. But all of a sudden this girl interrupts and says, "Well i have Schizophrenia and if i didn't take my meds... i'd go crazy and want to kill things."

Schizophrenia (pronounced /ˌskɪtsɵˈfrɛniə/ or /ˌskɪtsɵˈfriːniə/) is a serious mental illness characterized by a disintegration of the process of thinking and of emotional responsiveness.[1] It most commonly manifests as auditory hallucinationsparanoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking with significant social or occupational dysfunction.

Kinda scary? I think so. Personally i think that Schizophrenia is vey interesting... Because it shows how powerful and deceiving the human brain can be. But if i had it (which i don't) i am pretty sure i would not tell a class room full of 30 people. If she is okay with people knowing i guess that is good. I wouldn't be down with people thinking i belong on shutter island. Just sayin'. Because that is how a hand full of people see mental disorders due to the media and Brittany Spears.
But that is my favorite class. So i think i can live in a classroom for 50 minutes with a bunch of colorful people.
